Orange Alert in Mumbai: Mumbai and Several Other Districts in Maharashtra are Likely to Receive Rainfall Today

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad, warning people to remain careful due to heavy rainfall. A Yellow Alert has also been announced for several parts of Konkan, Vidarbha and the ghat regions, including Pune, Ratnagiri, Satara and Kolhapur, where heavy spells of rain are expected.

The weather department has also predicted thunderstorms with lightning in six districts of Vidarbha. Meanwhile, the rest of Maharashtra is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall. During the last 24 hours, Koyna (Navja) recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 205 mm.

According to the IMD, Palghar is expected to receive moderate rainfall, while Mumbai and Thane are likely to witness light to moderate showers. The forecast for Mumbai city and its suburbs says the sky will remain mostly cloudy over the next 24 to 48 hours, with chances of light to moderate rain. The maximum temperature is expected to stay around 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may be around 27 degrees Celsius.

Over the past four to five hours, several parts of Thane district received moderate to heavy rainfall. Some suburban areas of Mumbai also experienced short periods of heavy showers. Weather officials said that intermittent rain is likely to continue across the region during the next four to five hours. However, continuous heavy rainfall is not expected at this stage.

Private weather agency AccuWeather has also forecast cloudy skies with occasional rain in Mumbai throughout the day. The afternoon is expected to be breezy, with temperatures reaching around 31 degrees Celsius. Cloudy conditions and occasional showers are likely to continue during the night, with the minimum temperature expected to remain close to 27 degrees Celsius.
