The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts across several states, indicating potential heavy rainfall and adverse conditions in various regions.

In West Bengal and Jammu and Kashmir, an orange alert has been issued by the IMD, signaling the likelihood of heavy rainfall. This alert comes in the wake of a severe dust storm that caused significant damage in parts of Delhi.
For the national capital, Delhi, a yellow alert has been issued for May 11 and May 12. The forecast predicts a generally cloudy sky with light rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds during these two days. However, the weather is expected to improve thereafter, with mainly clear conditions anticipated until May 16. Temperatures are forecasted to range between 39 and 29 degrees Celsius today.
Looking at other north-western states, including Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, the IMD forecasts light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds until May 13 for some regions. Coastal areas of Gujarat are expected to experience hot and humid weather conditions until May 14.
IMD's press release highlights various atmospheric systems, including cyclonic circulations and troughs, influencing the weather patterns. These systems contribute to the forecasted weather conditions across different states.

In the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, light to moderate showers are predicted until May 16, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and squally winds. Similarly, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha are expected to receive rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
Torrential rains are anticipated in Karnataka and Kerala on May 12 and 13, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on May 13, and Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on May 12.
For Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Uttarakhand, hailstorm alerts have been issued for today, with another alert issued for these states on May 12. In West Bengal, an orange alert has been issued today due to expectations of heavy rainfall.
These alerts emphasize the need for residents and authorities in the affected regions to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to mitigate any potential risks associated with the forecasted weather conditions.
