Every year, thousands of devotees travel the Char Dham yatra. All pilgrims place a great deal of importance on the date that the door opens. The four holiest temples viz., Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath, and Kedarnath are included in the Char Dham yatra.
Those looking to participate in the Char Dham yatra should start making plans now as the dates for all 4 Dhams have been released which includes Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath, and Kedarnath.
On Mahashivaratri, the state of Uttarakhand made the dates official and added that the holy shrines of Kedarnath & Badrinath would open their doors on April 25 & April 27, respectively. In accordance with tradition, the Gangotri & Yamunotri Dham portals will also be opened on 22nd April, 2023.
As was previously reported, the government of Uttarakhand has published new guidelines for the Char Dham Yatra for this year and underlined that all pilgrims travelling to Uttarakhand for the Char Dham Yatra must complete the required registration.

This year's Char Dham Yatra is expected to draw more pilgrims to the area. To verify that all domestic and foreign pilgrims have completed the required registration process, however, rigorous precautions have been put in place. Note that no one will be permitted to travel without completing the required registration process which is now mandatory by the Uttarakhand government.
The tourism department has reportedly already begun accepting registrations for the pilgrimages to Gangotri as well as Yamunotri Dham. The portals of Gangotri & Yamunotri Dham will be opened for pilgrims on the day of Akshaya Tritiya which is on 22nd of April this year.
