Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train: Indian Railways to Operate a Special Service from Kerala

Indian Railways will operate a special Bharat Gaurav tourist train from Kerala during the Onam holiday season, offering passengers a chance to visit some of India's most famous tourist destinations. The tour, called 'Golden Triangle with Ahmedabad and the Statue of Unity', will begin from Thiruvananthapuram North railway station on August 22 and is being organised by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train

The 11-night, 12-day journey will cover around 6,895 km and take tourists to Ahmedabad, Ekta Nagar, Delhi, Agra and Jaipur before returning to Thiruvananthapuram on September 2. The package has been launched under the Centre's 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' and 'Dekho Apna Desh' initiatives to encourage domestic tourism.

Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train Features and Stoppages

The Bharat Gaurav train has AC 2-tier, AC 3-tier and sleeper class coaches, and can accommodate 662 passengers. To ensure passenger safety, each coach will be equipped with CCTV cameras and security guards. IRCTC has also partnered with Paytm and Razorpay to provide EMI payment options, making the package more affordable.

The all-inclusive tour package starts at Rs 21,190 per person for the economy (sleeper class) category.

Travellers can board or leave the train at several stations, including Thiruvananthapuram North, Kollam, Chengannur, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Thrissur, Shoranur Junction, Kozhikode, Kannur and Mangaluru Junction.

Major Attractions to be Covered

Ahmedabad will be the first major stop on the tour. Visitors will explore popular attractions such as Akshardham Temple, Adalaj Stepwell, Sabarmati Ashram, and Rani Ki Vav, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The itinerary also includes visits to the Statue of Unity and the famous Golden Triangle cities of Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur.
