Onam Special Train Operations
Railway authorities said advance ticket bookings for these special trains will begin at 8 am on July 18. Passengers have been advised to reserve their seats early due to the expected rush during the festival period.
The first special train will depart from Mysuru at 10:30 pm on August 25 and reach Kannur at 2 pm on August 26. For the return journey, it will leave Kannur at 6:25 pm on August 26 and arrive at Bengaluru Cantonment at 8:35 am on August 27.
The second special train will leave Mysuru at 11:55 pm on August 29 and reach Kannur at 5:50 pm on August 30. On its return journey, the train will depart from Kannur at 7:45 pm on August 30 and arrive at Bengaluru Cantonment at 10 am on August 31.
Both trains will operate on the same route and stop at the same stations, increasing passenger capacity between Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala during the busy festival season.
How will these Onam Special Trains Benefit Passengers?
The launch of these special services is expected to reduce crowding on regular trains and make travel more comfortable for thousands of passengers. Onam is one of Kerala's biggest festivals, and a large number of people travel to the state every year to celebrate with their families. These additional trains are expected to provide relief to travellers and ensure smoother journeys during the festive period.
