To help passengers travelling during the Onam festival, the South Western Railway (SWR) has announced special train services between Bengaluru and Ernakulam. The additional trains have been introduced to manage the heavy festive rush and provide more confirmed ticket options for people travelling to Kerala.

Onam Special Train Operations
The railway will operate four special train services between SMVT Bengaluru and Ernakulam Junction.
Train No. 06567 - SMVT Bengaluru-Ernakulam Junction Special
• Departure: August 22, 2026, at 11:30 pm
• Arrival: Ernakulam Junction at 11:45 am the next day
Train No. 06568 - Ernakulam Junction-SMVT Bengaluru Special
• Departure: August 23, 2026, at 2:30 pm
• Arrival: SMVT Bengaluru at 2:30 am the next day
Train No. 06569 - SMVT Bengaluru-Ernakulam Junction Special
• Departure: August 29, 2026, at 11:30 pm
• Arrival: Ernakulam Junction at 11:45 am the following day
Train No. 06570 - Ernakulam Junction-SMVT Bengaluru Special
• Departure: August 30, 2026, at 2:30 pm
• Arrival: SMVT Bengaluru at 2:30 am the next day
Train Features
The trains will have one AC First Class-cum-AC 2-Tier coach, two AC 3-Tier coaches, 12 Sleeper Class coaches, four General Second Class coaches, and two luggage-cum-brake vans, providing travel options for passengers across different classes.
As Onam is one of Kerala's biggest festivals, thousands of people travel between Bengaluru and Kerala during this period. Railway officials expect a large number of passengers and have introduced these special services to reduce waiting lists and make travel more convenient. Passengers are advised to book their tickets early, as demand is expected to be high during the festive season.
