Odisha's Eastern Ghats To Get New Highway, Adventure Activities; Ready To Be Top Travel Destination

Koraput, a beautiful district in Odisha, is set to become a major travel destination in Eastern India. Thanks to the Bharatmala economic corridor project, travel time to Koraput from major cities will soon be reduced. This new six-lane road project is part of a national effort to improve road connectivity. With better access, more people are expected to visit Koraput, which is already known for its natural beauty and rich tribal culture.

Koraput to Shine on India s Tourism Map

A Land of Nature and Culture

Located at 3,000 feet in the Eastern Ghats, Koraput is famous for its green valleys, waterfalls, and large water reservoirs like Kolab, Machhakund, Indravati, and Balimela. These places offer visitors peace and a close look at nature. Along with this, Koraput also gives tourists a chance to explore tribal traditions, crafts, and village life. This mix of nature and culture makes it a unique place to visit.

Hot Air Balloon Trials Hint at Exciting Future

Koraput is also planning to offer more adventure to its visitors. Recently, the district held trial runs for hot air balloon rides at Denga Janiguda and OSAP ground. These trials were successful, and now officials are waiting for government permission to start full services. Once approved, these hot air balloon rides will give people a chance to enjoy the beauty of Koraput from the sky.

Tourism Numbers Already on the Rise

Even before the new road project and adventure options, Koraput has been attracting many tourists. Places like Deomali, Rani Duduma, Gupteshwar, and Duduma Falls have already welcomed over five lakh visitors this year. This shows that more and more people are interested in what Koraput has to offer. With the Bharatmala road making travel easier, these numbers are likely to grow even more.

A Complete Travel Experience

According to Koraput collector V Keerthi Vasan, the goal is to provide a full tourism experience. This means not just visiting beautiful places but also enjoying tribal arts, crafts, and local food. The plan is to make Koraput a place where people can relax, learn, and try something new, like adventure sports.

In the coming years, with the Bharatmala corridor and new attractions like hot air balloons, Koraput is ready to shine as a top tourist destination in Eastern India. The district's natural beauty, combined with its culture and adventure offerings, promises something special for every visitor.
