Residents living along Maharshi Karve Road, many of whom are members of the Oval-Cooperage Residents Association (OCRA), have written a complaint to the traffic police about increasing traffic problems on the stretch between Eros Theatre and Woodhouse Gymkhana.

Issues Faced by Mumbai Residents
They said that during the construction of Metro Line 3, traffic routes were temporarily changed. However, even after the metro barricades were removed, drivers are still following those old diversion routes. One major issue they highlighted is the right turn from Maharshi Karve Road onto J. Tata Road near Eros. According to them, this turn should be closed immediately because it creates heavy congestion and brings back the same chaos that existed before the metro construction. They added that ambulances often get stuck for 10 to 25 minutes because vehicles block the junction while trying to make this turn.
When asked about this complaint, the traffic police stated they do not let ambulances get stuck and ensure smooth passage for them. They also claimed that major traffic jams usually happen only on Tuesdays because more vehicles are on the road that day. However, resident Nayana Kathpalia disagreed. She said that traffic near Eros is getting worse every day. She explained that even though the road was closed for many years due to metro barricades and has now reopened, motorists are still using the old routes instead of the proper ones.
Ashad Mehta, President of OCRA, added that residents suffer daily due to several issues, such as illegal parking, taxis blocking the road, BEST buses stopping randomly, and two-wheelers parked on footpaths. He said residents have already written letters to the authorities asking for long-term solutions. In their latest letter, they urged the authorities to take the situation seriously and involve the BMC, RTO, and BEST together to fix these growing problems.
