Northeast India Gets Railway Boost: Services Extended for Better Connectivity; check list

In a noteworthy effort to enhance travel between India's major cities and the northeastern region, the Ministry of Railways has unveiled plans to extend multiple train services. This endeavor aligns with the ministry's continuous dedication to expanding transportation options for Northeastern residents, as per a report in the Indian Express.

Northeast India Gets Railway Boost

The extended train services will present Northeastern residents with an increased array of travel alternatives and prospects. Furthermore, these improvements are anticipated to invigorate tourism and fortify economic growth in the region. Additionally, the enhanced connectivity will prove beneficial to businesses and industries in the Northeast, effectively bridging the longstanding transportation gap between this region and the rest of India.

Secunderabad-Guwahati Weekly Express Now Extends to Silchar (Train no- 12513/12514)

One of the notable extensions is the Secunderabad-Guwahati Weekly Express (train no- 12513/12514), which has been extended to Silchar in Southern Assam. This train will make stops at several key stations between Guwahati and Silchar, including Badarpur, New Haflong, Lumding, Hojai, and Jagiroad Stations.

Commencing on Wednesdays, train number 12514, Silchar-Guwahati-Secunderabad Express, will depart from Silchar Station at 7:45 PM and arrive in Secunderabad at 3:35 AM on Fridays.

The return journey will commence from Secunderabad Station at 4:35 PM on Saturdays. During the return journey, train no-12519 (Lokmanya Tilak-Kamakhya-Agartala) Express will depart from Lokmanya Tilak Station on Sundays at 07:50 AM and reach Agartala Station on Tuesdays at 07:50 PM.

Lokmanya Tilak-Kamakhya Weekly Express Now Extends to Agartala (Train no- 12519/12520)

Similarly, train no- 12519/12520 Lokmanya Tilak-Kamakhya Weekly Express has been extended to Agartala in Tripura. This extension will include stops at key stations between Guwahati and Agartala, such as Ambassa, Dharmanagar, Badarpur, New Haflong, Lumding, Hojai, and Chaparmukh Stations.

The return journey of the train will commence from Lokmanya Tilak Station at 07:50 AM on Sundays. Train no-12520 (Agartala-Kamakhya-Lokmanya Tilak) Express will now commence its journey from Agartala Station on Thursdays at 06:00 AM and reach Lokmanya Tilak Station on Saturdays at 04:15 PM.

Enhanced Connectivity for the Northeast

These extensions will establish crucial links between remote areas of the Northeast and major cities like Mumbai and Secunderabad. Train no-12514 (Silchar-Guwahati-Secunderabad) Express will now commence its journey from Silchar Station on Wednesdays at 07:45 PM, ultimately reaching Secunderabad on Fridays at 03:35 AM.

On the return journey, train no- 12513 (Secunderabad-Guwahati-Silchar) Express will depart from Secunderabad Station on Saturdays at 04:35 PM, concluding its voyage at Silchar Station on Mondays at 11:45 PM.

These extensions are expected to significantly benefit the Northeastern region by improving connectivity, accessibility, and travel convenience. With these enhanced rail links, the Northeast is poised for greater economic growth, increased tourism, and overall progress.
