The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has announced a major expansion of its metro network. A new metro line will directly connect the Botanical Garden station, which is an interchange for the Blue and Magenta Lines, with the Sector-142 station on the Aqua Line. This new corridor will be 11.56 km long and will help in making travel easier between Delhi, Noida, and Greater Noida. The construction is expected to start in the next three months after getting final approval from the central government.

Better Connectivity for Commuters
At present, passengers traveling from Delhi to Noida or Greater Noida by metro face difficulties in switching between the Blue Line and the Aqua Line. They have to get down at Sector-52 station and walk or take an e-rickshaw to reach Sector-51 station to continue their journey. The new metro link will remove this hassle by providing a direct connection, making travel faster and more convenient for daily commuters.
Plans and Cost of the Project
NMRC is not only working on this metro link but also planning for the future expansion of the Noida-Greater Noida metro network. The new Botanical Garden to Sector-142 line is an important project, with an estimated cost of around Rs 2,254 crore. Additionally, NMRC is also planning another metro line from Sector-51 to Knowledge Park-5. These expansions aim to improve connectivity to major transport hubs such as the Indira Gandhi International Airport and key railway stations. This will make Noida and Greater Noida better connected and more accessible.
Survey and Construction Work
To prepare for this project, NMRC has started a detailed survey, which is expected to be completed next month. This includes a topographic survey and soil testing along the planned route. The new corridor will have eight metro stations, ensuring a smooth journey for passengers traveling between Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi.
The introduction of this metro link is an important step in improving transportation in the National Capital Region. Once completed, this project will reduce travel difficulties, improve connectivity, and provide better urban mobility. It will also help connect residential areas with business centers and major transport facilities.
With NMRC moving forward with its vision of an expanded metro network, commuters in Noida and Greater Noida are eagerly waiting for the changes. The construction of this corridor will bring a new level of ease and convenience, making metro travel more efficient for thousands of people.
