The famous Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai is known for attracting thousands of devotees every day. To maintain the sacred atmosphere and ensure the comfort of visitors, the temple trust has decided to implement a dress code. The new rule, enforced by the Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple Trust (SSGTT), will come into effect next week.
New Dress Code for Visitors
As part of this decision, short skirts, torn trousers, and revealing clothes will not be allowed inside the temple premises in Prabhadevi. This move comes after the temple trust received several complaints from devotees who felt uncomfortable with the way some visitors dressed.
Pawan Tripathi, the treasurer of SSGTT, stated, _"We received complaints from devotees requesting restrictions on certain types of clothing. This decision has been taken to maintain decorum and ensure that all visitors feel comfortable."_

Siddhivinayak Temple is not the only religious place enforcing a dress code. Many temples across India have implemented similar rules to preserve tradition and maintain a respectful environment. This trend shows a nationwide effort to uphold cultural values and ensure that places of worship remain peaceful and sacred for all visitors.
Eco-Friendly Steps at Siddhivinayak Temple
Apart from the dress code, the temple trust is also promoting eco-friendly practices. In an effort to reduce plastic waste, prasad (the sacred offering) will now be distributed in paper packets instead of plastic bags.
This initiative aligns with similar efforts made by other temples in India, such as the Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan, which has also taken steps to reduce plastic use and encourage modest dressing.
