Namo Bharat Trains Introduce Premium Services For 20% More Fare

Passengers on Namo Bharat trains can now enjoy premium services for just 20% more than the regular fare, as per the latest fare revision by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). This adjustment aims to make premium travel more accessible and encourage public transport use. The premium coach fare is now 1.2 times the standard coach fare, offering a comfortable and less crowded travel experience.

Enhanced Travel Experience

For instance, a standard ticket costing Rs 100 can be upgraded to a premium coach for an additional Rs 20. The journey between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South in a premium coach is now Rs 180, compared to Rs 150 in a standard coach. Similarly, traveling from Ghaziabad to Anand Vihar costs Rs 50 in the premium coach, up from Rs 40 for the standard fare.

The NCRTC has also introduced a loyalty points program to further incentivise passengers. Commuters earn points each time they book a QR ticket through the Namo Bharat app or use the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC). Each point is valued at 10 paise, and once 300 points are accumulated, they can be redeemed for a free trip.

Additional Benefits for Commuters

Improved parking facilities are available at all Namo Bharat stations. Commuters can check real-time parking availability using the 'Namo Bharat Connect' mobile application, reducing waiting time and easing last-mile planning. This upgrade particularly benefits young professionals and students who need a quieter environment during travel for online classes or meetings.

In collaboration with Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), AC electric buses are operating on four routes connected to stations at New Ashok Nagar and Anand Vihar. E-rickshaws and other last-mile transport services like Rapido are also available at multiple stations in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

Operational Stretch and Future Plans

The operational stretch of Namo Bharat currently covers 55 km from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South, with 11 stations. Trial runs are ongoing on other segments of the corridor, including between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar, and Meerut South to Modipuram. This initiative has been well-received by commuters, with more passengers opting for upgraded services.

This move aligns with broader efforts to promote public transport by making premium travel more affordable. By offering enhanced facilities at a slightly higher cost, NCRTC aims to attract more passengers while providing value-added services that cater to their needs.
