The Namo Bharat train is set to bring faster and more comfortable travel between major cities in Uttar Pradesh. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that preparations have begun to introduce the Namo Bharat train between short-distance big cities in the state, including Lucknow and Kanpur and Meerut and Saharanpur.
Fast and Modern Travel
The Namo Bharat train is part of India's Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and is designed for quick and efficient travel. It is already operational on the Delhi-Meerut route under the RapidX service. The train offers high-speed travel with modern facilities, making daily commutes easier for passengers.
Features of the Namo Bharat Train
- Speed: Maximum design speed of 180 km/h, with regular operation at 160 km/h.
- Manufacturer: Built by Alstom Transport India Limited.
- Capacity: Each train can hold 407 seated passengers and 1,061 standing passengers.
- Design & Comfort: It has an aerodynamic design, stainless steel body, automatic doors, bio-vacuum toilets, and modern passenger facilities.
Government's Big Investment in Railways
The Government of India has approved a budget of ₹19,858 crore for various railway development projects in Uttar Pradesh. This includes the introduction of Namo Bharat trains and other upgrades to improve railway services.
Better Connectivity for Lucknow and Kanpur
The introduction of the Namo Bharat train between Lucknow and Kanpur is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters. Currently, travel between these two cities takes around 1.5 to 2 hours by train or road. With the high-speed Namo Bharat service, the travel time is expected to reduce significantly, making it more convenient for passengers.
