Bengaluru's Namma Metro is planning its largest project yet, a 72-km corridor that could completely transform the city's transformation. This will be the longest line ever built under Namma Metro, connecting Kalena Agrahara on Bannerghatta Road to Kadugodi Tree Park near Whitefield. The line will pass through some of the

busiest and fastest-growing areas, including Bannerghatta, Jigani, Attibele, Sarjapur, Dommasandra Circle, and Varthur Kodi, linking major IT hubs, residential zones, and startup clusters.
Features of Namma Metro's New Metro Project
An exciting feature of this plan is a 3.5 to 4-km branch line to the upcoming international sports complex in Anekal. This means one day, Bengaluru residents could take the Metro straight to a cricket match or a major sports event. The complex will house an 80,000-seat cricket stadium, facilities for 24 sports, and a 30,000-seater auditorium - a setup similar to an Olympic village.
Feasibility Study
The feasibility study for the project is already complete. A Delhi-based firm has reviewed routes, land requirements, ridership potential, and costs. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) plans to submit this report by the end of October and then prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR), which will finalize the blueprint.
Namma Metro's Project to Begin Around 2029
However, this is a long-term project. If everything goes according to plan, construction might begin around 2029 and could take 5 to 10 years to complete. The corridor will feature both underground and elevated sections with over 50 stations, although they will be spaced further apart since many areas along the route are still developing. This 72-km corridor is part of BMRCL's ambitious 210.9-km expansion plan, aiming to take Bengaluru's total metro network to nearly 468 km, almost as large as Delhi-NCR's. Namma Metro is not just expanding; it's shaping Bengaluru's future.
