The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited has moved forward with the planning of Nagpur Metro Phase III, as the tender process for preparing its Detailed Project Report (DPR) has now reached the evaluation stage. Two companies have submitted bids for the consultancy work, and officials have started reviewing their technical

proposals.
Nagpur Metro's Technical Evaluation
Once the technical evaluation is completed, the financial bids will be opened. After this, the final contract will be awarded to the selected consultant who will prepare the DPR. This report is very important because it will act as a complete plan or blueprint for the Phase III expansion of the metro network.
Nagpur Metro Phase III
Phase III is expected to be the largest expansion of the Nagpur Metro so far. It will include several new routes, such as the Inner Ring Road corridor, the Sitabuldi-Koradi stretch, an extension towards Butibori, and connectivity to the New Nagpur region to improve transport and connectivity across the city.
Groundwork for the DPR to Begin
After the consultant is selected, groundwork for the DPR is likely to begin in May, which will include important studies such as traffic and ridership surveys, origin-destination analysis, topographical studies, and route alignment planning. These steps will help decide how the project should be designed and implemented.
The DPR will also finalise key details, including station locations, whether routes will be elevated or underground, interchange points, and how the new lines will connect with the existing metro network. Once completed, the report will be submitted to the state government and later to the central government for approval.
