Motorists in Mumbai have a new reason to smile. The long-awaited Vikhroli flyover is now open, connecting the eastern and western parts of Vikhroli. This important road bridge links Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Marg to the Eastern Express Highway and is expected to ease daily travel, especially during the busy monsoon season.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officially announced the opening of the flyover, which is now ready to help commuters avoid traffic jams and save time.
Smooth Travel Across Vikhroli
The new flyover stretches 615 metres in length and is 12 metres wide. It was built in three phases and includes 18 spans supported by 19 piers-12 on the eastern side and seven on the western side. A traffic holding bay has also been added on the western approach to improve traffic flow.
This major infrastructure project is designed to reduce travel time between Vikhroli East and West by up to 30 minutes. Many people in this area face long traffic delays, especially when it rains, and this bridge is expected to make a big difference in their daily commute.
Completed On Time
The BMC's Roads and Traffic Department completed the project by May 31, 2025, as planned. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who originally launched the project in 2018, shared a video of the newly completed bridge on social media. He praised the team for finishing it on time and making sure it was open before the monsoon rush.
He also mentioned that he, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknathrao Shinde and Ajitdada Pawar, decided to open the flyover without waiting for a formal ceremony. Their goal was to avoid any delay that could affect people during the rainy season.
No More Delays for Commuters
According to the Chief Minister, the total cost of the project was Rs 104.77 crore. He stressed the importance of quick action and said that the bridge was opened for traffic from 4 pm on June 14, 2025, following coordination with the BMC Commissioner and the traffic police.
The BMC stated that this flyover will greatly reduce inconvenience during the monsoon. With traffic often building up on LBS Marg when it rains, this new road will bring relief to many daily travellers.
For residents of Vikhroli and nearby areas, the flyover is a welcome change-making travel smoother, faster, and a lot less stressful.
