New Special Trains Announced For Ganesh Chaturthi 2024 In Mumbai

Mumbai introduces special trains for Ganesh Chaturthi to ease travel during the festival. New routes and enhanced services aim to manage the increased demand effectively.

As Mumbai gears up for Ganesh Chaturthi on September7, the railways are enhancing travel options to manage the increased demand. To alleviate congestion and ensure a smooth journey, special trains will be introduced. Both Central and Western Railways have announced new routes to cater to the festive rush.

Western Railway's New Routes

Western Railway has unveiled additional routes, offering more choices for passengers heading to Konkan. Special trains will run between Mumbai Central and Thokur, Mumbai Central and Sawantwadi Road, Bandra Terminus and Kudal, as well as Ahmedabad and Kudal. This move is a relief for those who couldn't secure reservations on Central Railway's special trains.

The 09001/09002 Mumbai Central – Thokur – Mumbai Central Weekly Special will operate on specific dates. The 09001 train departs from Mumbai Central at noon on September 3, 10, and 17, reaching Thokur at 9:30 AM the next day. The return journey on the 09002 train leaves Thokur at 10:45 AM on September 4, 11, and 18, arriving at Mumbai Central by 7:05 AM the following day.

Additional Train Services

The 09009/09010 Mumbai Central – Sawantwadi – Mumbai Central service will run daily except Tuesdays from September 2 to 16. The 09009 train leaves Mumbai Central at noon and reaches Sawantwadi at 2:30 AM the next day. The return trip on the 09010 train departs Sawantwadi at 5:30 AM from September 3 to 17, arriving in Mumbai Central by 8:10 PM the same day.

The Bandra Terminus – Kudal – Bandra Terminus Weekly Special (09015/09016) will also be available. The 09015 train leaves Bandra Terminus at 2:40 PM on Thursdays (September 5, 12, and 19), reaching Kudal by 5:40 AM the next day. The return journey on the 09016 train departs Kudal at 6:45 AM on Fridays (September 6, 13, and 20), arriving back in Bandra Terminus by 9:30 PM that day.

Ahmedabad to Kudal Service

The Ahmedabad – Kudal Ahmedabad Weekly Special (09412/09411) offers another option for travelers. The outbound journey starts from Ahmedabad at 9:30 AM on September 3, 10, and 17, reaching Kudal by early morning the next day. The return trip begins from Kudal at 6:30 AM on September 4, 11, and 18, arriving in Ahmedabad by early morning the following day.

Additionally, there is a Vishwamitri – Kudal – Vishwamitri Weekly Special (09150/09149). The outbound train departs Vishwamitri at 10 AM on September 2, 9, and 16, reaching Kudal early morning the next day. The return journey starts from Kudal at around dawn on September 3,10, and 17, reaching Vishwamitri by afternoon of the following day.

Booking Details

Reservations for these special Ganpati trains began on July 28th, 2024. Passengers can book their tickets through all Indian Railways reservation centers or via the IRCTC website.This expansion of services aims to make travel more convenient during one of India's most celebrated festivals.

These special trains are equipped with various coach types including First AC,Fifth Third Tier AC,Twelve Second Sleeper,Four General,and Two SLR coaches ensuring comfort for all passengers.The initiative reflects efforts to accommodate festive travel needs efficiently.
