The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai on Thursday, predicting heavy rainfall at isolated locations. The weather department has also placed neighbouring districts, including Thane, Raigad and Ratnagiri, under an orange alert, warning of very heavy rainfall in several areas over the next 24 hours.

According to the IMD's latest Nowcast warning, Mumbai will continue to remain under an orange alert until 10 am. The department has issued multiple rain alerts across Maharashtra as several parts of the state are expected to receive heavy showers on July 23.
List of Districts in Maharashtra to Receive Rainfall
In the Konkan region, an orange alert has been announced for Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. These areas are likely to experience intense rainfall during the day. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious, especially in areas prone to waterlogging and flooding.
North Maharashtra is also expected to witness rainfall activity. Districts such as Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik have been issued a yellow alert, with forecasts of rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Meanwhile, the Nashik Ghatmatha region has been placed under an orange alert due to the possibility of heavier showers.
In western Maharashtra, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Pune, Satara, Sangli, Ahilyanagar and Kolhapur districts. The IMD has issued a red alert for the Pune Ghatmatha area, indicating a possibility of extremely heavy rainfall. The Satara Ghatmatha region is under an orange alert, while Solapur is likely to receive light rainfall.
The Marathwada region may also experience rain in several districts. Moderate showers are expected in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Hingoli, while Jalna, Parbhani, Beed and Nanded may receive light to moderate rainfall. Latur and Dharashiv are likely to witness light showers.
The IMD has advised people across Maharashtra to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions as heavy rainfall may affect daily activities and travel in several regions.
