Mumbai Metro Line 3: Train Services Got Affected for 30 Mins Causing Delay and Inconvenience for Commuters

In one of the first major technical problems on Mumbai Metro Line 3, Aarey-Cuffe Parade, train services were affected for about 30 minutes during the busy Monday morning rush. This is the first such issue reported in the last five months since the fully underground Metro line started operations.

Why was the Disruption Caused?

Officials from Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) explained that the disruption was caused by a minor technical glitch and claimed that the problem was fixed within 10 minutes. However, many commuters shared a different experience, saying the delays lasted much longer and were quite confusing.

Passengers' Opinions

Passengers said that around 8:45 am, trains began slowing down and then stopped at intervals, moving at very low speeds. Services in both directions were impacted, causing delays of up to half an hour, especially for people heading to work.
One commuter, Maruti Naik, shared on social media that the train stopped between Santa Cruz and Bandra Colony at around 8:45 am. It then moved slowly to the next station, stopped again for 5 to 7 minutes, and later took time to reach BKC, where passengers had to wait for about 10 minutes. After that, the journey continued normally.

Naik also mentioned that announcements inside the train referred to an emergency but did not clearly explain the reason, which made passengers anxious. Another commuter said their train was stuck for nearly 20 minutes between Aarey JVLR and SEEPZ, and then moved slowly towards the Airport station.

Passengers also highlighted poor communication inside the underground section, as weak mobile network connectivity made it difficult to get updates. A smaller disruption had been reported earlier in November 2025, making this one of the most noticeable incidents so far.
