Mumbai Metro Line 9: Dahisar East to Kashigaon Phase Ready for Trials

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is speeding up the work on Metro Line 9. The goal is to make the first phase from Dahisar East to Kashigaon ready by the end of this year. This move is part of Mumbai's larger plan to improve its metro network and make travel easier for people in the western suburbs.

Work Progress and Review Meeting

In a recent meeting, Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, the Metropolitan Commissioner, and Anil Kumar Saini, Managing Director of Alstom India, reviewed the progress of the signalling work. They discussed how international best practices are being used to finish the project on time and with high quality. These efforts are meant to make sure that the metro line will be safe, efficient, and reliable.

Project Details and Route Plan

Metro Line 9 will run from Dahisar East to Mira-Bhayandar and cover a distance of 11.38 km. It is being built in two stages. The first stage connects Dahisar East to Kashigaon, while the second stage will take the line further to Subhash Chandra Bose Ground in Mira-Bhayandar. This route will help thousands of people by improving travel between the western suburbs and Mira-Bhayandar.

Electrification and Testing Plans

A 5 km stretch between Dahisar East and Kashigaon is almost ready for electrification. The overhead equipment will be energized by May 10. This step is important because it allows full testing of the trains. These tests will check train control systems, platform communication, and passenger services. This process ensures that the metro will run smoothly and safely once it opens to the public.

Fully Elevated Line with Eight Stations

Metro Line 9 is an extension of Metro Line 7, which runs from Gundavali to Dahisar East. Line 9 is fully elevated and will include eight stations: Dahisar East, Pandurang Wadi, Mira Gaon, Kashigaon, Sai Baba Nagar, Meditya Nagar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Garden, and Subhash Chandra Bose Ground. These stations will help improve daily travel for people living in these areas.

Nearly Complete and Ready for Trials

According to a report from the Times of India, around 85% of the civil and system work for Metro Line 9 is already finished. Once the overhead line is energized, dynamic train trials will begin. These trials are necessary to check the train's performance before passengers are allowed to board.

MMRDA's fast work on Metro Line 9 shows their commitment to making Mumbai's public transport better. If the first phase starts by the end of the year, it will make a big difference for commuters in the western suburbs. This project is a key part of improving how people travel in the city.
