Mumbai Local Train Alert: Sunday Mega Block Disrupts Western and Central Lines on Sept 6

Mumbai’s suburban network will undergo Sunday maintenance on September 6, with Western Railway’s five-hour jumbo block and Central Railway’s main and Harbour line megablocks. Expect fast-to-slow diversions, selective cancellations, and a few short-terminations. Core windows: Western 10:35 am–3:35 pm; Central (CSMT–Vidyavihar slow) 10:55 am–3:55 pm; Harbour 11:10/11:40 am–4:10/4:40 pm. Plan outside these hours if possible.

Western Railway’s block sits between Churchgate and Mumbai Central on the fast corridors; fast services will run on slow lines. Central will divert slow-line trains to fast between CSMT and Vidyavihar with limited halts, while Harbour suspends several CSMT–Bandra/Goregaon and CSMT–Vashi/Belapur/Panvel services. A Panvel–Kurla special will run every 20 minutes for connectivity.

Mumbai Local Train Mega Block September 6 2026: Western and Central Railway Schedule and Timings

Western jumbo block timings and cancellations

Western Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer said, “the jumbo block will be undertaken on the UP and DOWN Fast lines from 10.35 am to 3.35 pm.” During this period, fast trains shift to slow lines; some services will be cancelled, and a few Churchgate-bound locals will short-terminate at Bandra or Dadar. Travel before 10:30 am or after 3:35 pm for smoother runs.

Central/Harbour megablocks—full timings and diversions

Central’s CSMT–Vidyavihar slow lines block (10:55 am–3:55 pm) diverts down slow trains to the fast line with halts at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion, and Kurla, then re-diverts at Vidyavihar; up slow from Ghatkopar to CSMT follows the fast with the same halts. Harbour’s CSMT–Chunabhatti/Bandra block runs 11:10/11:40 am to 4:10/4:40 pm; many CSMT–Bandra/Goregaon and CSMT–Vashi/Belapur/Panvel services are suspended.

Line Block window Affected stretch Key changes

Best travel windows and rider takeaways

Safer windows: start before 10:20 am or shift trips to after 4:00 pm. Midday travellers should prefer slow corridors on Western and the diverted fast corridors on Central. Harbour passengers can use the Panvel–Kurla special and are permitted to travel via Main and Western lines until 6:00 pm during the block.

Live updates and alternates (Metro, BEST, app alerts)

Check live advisories on the Yatri announcements hub and station boards before departure. Follow official Central and Western Railway handles for restoration notices, then use app alerts for platform changes. For alternates, combine Metro and BEST for crosstown hops, and prefer early starts to avoid queues at Dadar, Kurla, and Bandra interchanges.
