Starting today, September 4, Bengaluru has barred two-wheelers on the International Airport Road elevated corridor between Sanjeevnagar Cross and Vidyashilp Junction. Traffic police also began category-specific curbs on the BGS, Peenya and Silk Board–Ragigudda flyovers. The Electronic City elevated corridor gets a two-wheeler ban from September 11, so weekend planners should recalibrate routes and departure times now.
On the airport elevated stretch, two-wheelers and autorickshaws are barred round the clock, with goods vehicles restricted 6 am to 10 pm. BGS keeps heavy goods out all day; light goods face 7–11 am and 4–10 pm curbs. Peenya bans autos all day and restricts goods at the same peak hours. The double-decker flyover is shut to heavy goods vehicles.

Two-wheelers heading to the airport must use Ballari Road’s surface lanes and service roads alongside the restricted segment. Expect checks near entry and exit ramps such as Hebbal, Jakkur and Yelahanka, with CCTV watching entries. Add a 15–25 minute buffer during peak flows. For smoother rides, target departures before 6:30 am or after 10 pm when freight curbs ease.

Mysuru or Coorg riders should sidestep BGS at peak times by joining NICE Road via Kanakapura Road, then re-entering Mysuru Road near Kengeri. For Hassan–Chikkamagaluru, avoid the Peenya elevated stretch and join National Highway 75 through Nelamangala surface lanes, or take NICE to Tumakuru Road. Friday exits work best before 7 am, between 2–4 pm, or after 9 pm; Saturdays before 7 am.
