Indian Railways has reached a new milestone with the successful trial run of the Vande Bharat Express sleeper train on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. This trial is an important step toward enhancing long-distance train travel in India.

The Vande Bharat sleeper train consists of 16 coaches, including 11 AC-3 tier coaches, 4 AC-2 tier coaches, and one first-class AC coach. It offers various seating options to meet the needs of different passengers. The train is equipped with foldable snack tables, charging ports, and an integrated lighting system. Special features for visually challenged passengers, such as Braille navigation, have also been included to make the journey accessible for everyone.

Railway officials have highlighted several advanced features of the train. These include seamless gangways for easy movement, dog boxes at both ends, and sufficient storage space for linen. The coaches are built to HL3 compliance standards, ensuring top-notch fire safety. Additionally, the train has 38 reserved seats for attendants, showing attention to detail in passenger convenience.

During the trial run between Ahmedabad and Mumbai Central, the train demonstrated its semi-high-speed capabilities. While the journey was delayed by about 1.10 hours due to unforeseen circumstances, the trial was considered a success. The Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) is now analyzing the results of a special Confirmatory Oscillograph Car Run (COCR) conducted during the trial. This analysis will determine if the train meets all operational and safety standards required by Indian Railways.

A senior Western Railway official shared details about the trial, stating, "We conducted a Confirmatory Oscillograph Car Run (COCR) trial of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train at a speed of 130 kmph between Ahmedabad and Mumbai Central." Once the analysis is complete, the RDSO will issue a certificate validating the train's design and standardization.

The Vande Bharat sleeper train represents a significant step forward in railway technology. Its modern amenities and safety features promise a more comfortable and efficient travel experience for passengers on one of India's busiest routes. As this new train prepares for regular service, it is set to transform long-distance train travel in the country, making it faster, safer, and more enjoyable for all.
