Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on November 15. Around 10 a.m., he will visit the under-construction Bullet Train Station in Surat to check the progress of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR). This is one of India's biggest and most modern infrastructure projects, showing the country's move

toward high-speed rail travel.
Bullet Train to Connect Major Cities
The MAHSR will cover about 508 km in total, 352 km in Gujarat and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and 156 km in Maharashtra. The bullet train line will connect several important cities such as Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Bilimora, Vapi, Boisar, Virar, Thane, and Mumbai. This project is expected to improve transportation and boost development along the route.
How is the Corridor Being Built?
The corridor is being built using advanced engineering methods that meet global standards. About 465 km of the route (nearly 85%) will run on elevated viaducts to reduce land use and increase safety. So far, 326 km of the viaduct have already been completed, and 17 out of 25 river bridges are finished.
Bullet Train Operations
Once the bullet train begins operations, travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will drop to around two hours. This will make travel quicker, more comfortable, and more convenient for thousands of passengers. The project will also help increase business, tourism, and economic activity in the region.
Surat-Bilimora Stretch
The Surat-Bilimora stretch, which is about 47 km long, is nearly complete. Civil works and track-bed preparation are finished. The Surat station has been designed to reflect the city's famous diamond industry, combining beauty with modern needs. It will have spacious waiting areas, clean restrooms, and shops. The station will also provide easy connections to the Surat Metro, city buses, and regular Indian Railways, ensuring smooth travel for passengers.
