The first phase of Mumbai Metro Line 9, which runs between Dahisar and Mira-Bhayandar, is close to getting final approval to start operations. The project is being carried out by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). Trial runs on the corridor have been completed successfully. Officials are now waiting
for the final safety clearance. The first phase covers the stretch from Dahisar to Kashigaon.
Mumbai Metro Line 9 to Connect Mira-Bhayandar
This new metro line will connect Mira-Bhayandar directly to Metro Line 7 at Dahisar East. From there, passengers can easily travel to Andheri and other parts of Mumbai. The new link is expected to reduce heavy traffic on the Western Express Highway and make daily travel smoother.
Work on the Dahisar-Kashigaon Section
Work on the Dahisar-Kashigaon section has been going on for nearly seven years and has now reached its final stage. The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) recently inspected the corridor. After the inspection, some minor technical and safety improvements were suggested. Authorities have already started making these changes to ensure everything is ready before the official launch. The Chief Minister has also asked officials to begin preparations for the inauguration programme.
How Will this Metro Line Benefit Commuters?
Once the metro services begin, daily commuters from Mira-Bhayandar travelling to Mumbai for work are expected to benefit greatly. Travel time will likely reduce, and road traffic on the Western Express Highway should also ease.
Metro Line 9 is part of Mumbai's larger metro expansion plan to improve suburban connectivity and reduce congestion on city roads.
