Indian Railways has decided to make the Mangaluru-Surat special train service a permanent bi-weekly express train, providing better and more reliable connectivity between Karnataka and Gujarat. The service, which operated as a special train under numbers 09057 and 09058, will now run regularly as Train No. 19057/19058.

Mangaluru-Surat Special Train
The regular service will begin from Surat on June 3 and from Mangaluru Junction on June 4. Train No. 19057, the Surat-Mangaluru Junction Bi-Weekly Express, will leave Surat every Wednesday and Sunday at 7:35 pm and reach Mangaluru Junction at 7:45 pm the next day. In the return direction, Train No. 19058 will depart from Mangaluru Junction every Thursday and Monday at 10:30 pm and arrive in Surat at 11:45 pm the following day.
Major Stoppages
The train will stop at several important stations along the Konkan Railway route, including Karwar, Ankola, Gokarna Road, Kumta, Murdeshwar, Bhatkal, Mookambika Road Byndoor, Kundapura, Udupi, Mulki, and Surathkal. It will also halt at major stations in Maharashtra and Gujarat, improving travel options for passengers across the western coast.
Train Features
The train will have 20 coaches, including one AC 2-tier coach, seven AC 3-tier coaches, six sleeper class coaches, four general coaches, and two SLR/D coaches. This will allow the service to cater to different categories of passengers.
How will the Service Benefit Passengers?
The Railway Ministry had approved the regularisation of the service earlier this year after receiving a positive response from passengers. The move is expected to benefit travellers by providing a permanent and dependable rail connection between Mangaluru and Surat. It will also support tourism, business travel, and the movement of people between coastal Karnataka and Gujarat.
