List of Trains to be Affected

Due to this work, many MEMU passenger trains running between Barddhaman and Asansol will remain cancelled during this period.

• From May 24 to May 27, two MEMU passenger trains from Asansol to Barddhaman and two trains from Barddhaman to Asansol will be cancelled daily.

• On May 27, nine more MEMU passenger services will also remain cancelled. These include four trains between Barddhaman and Asansol, three between Asansol and Barddhaman, one between Andal and Barddhaman, and one between Asansol and Andal.

• The Howrah-Siuri Hool Express and the Siuri-Howrah Hool Express will also remain cancelled on May 27.

• Railway authorities have also announced short termination and short origination of some trains. The Barddhaman-Jhajha MEMU Passenger trains and the return services on May 24, 25, and 26 will operate only between Asansol and Jhajha. Services between Barddhaman and Asansol in both directions will remain cancelled.

• Similarly, the Barddhaman-Bokaro Steel City MEMU Passenger trains and return services on May 27 will start and end at Asansol instead of Barddhaman. The Barddhaman-Asansol section of these trains will remain cancelled.

• Several long-distance trains are also expected to face delays because of the signalling work. Trains such as the Howrah-Dehradun Kumbha Express, Kolkata-Jammu Tawi Express, and Howrah-Jabalpur Shaktipunj Express may be delayed by around 75 minutes on May 27 during their journey.

Reason behind the Termination of Services

Railway officials stated that the work is conducted to replace the old panel interlocking system with a modern electronic interlocking system at Panagarh station. The pre non-interlocking and non-interlocking work on both up and down railway lines will take place every day from 12 noon to 6 pm between May 24 and May 27.
