Details of the Upcoming Lion Safari

As per recent reports, the lion safari is scheduled to commence in the first week of January next year. It will feature a pair of female lions from Alipur Zoo in Kolkata and another pair from Tripura. A spacious enclosure spanning 20 acres has been prepared for these majestic creatures, along with night shelters. The park's director, Kamal Sarkar, revealed that the construction work for the enclosure has already begun and the shelters are nearing completion.

Bengal Safari, a unique open-air zoological park, spans 297 hectares on the outskirts of Siliguri, adjacent to the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary off NH10. It already houses a variety of animals including the Royal Bengal Tiger, gharial (fish-eating crocodile), Asiatic black bear, and rhinoceros. An open-air aviary also attracts bird watchers. Over the past few years, it has emerged as a significant attraction for both tourists and locals in the region.

The addition of the lion safari is set to further enhance Bengal Safari Park's appeal, offering visitors a more diverse wildlife experience.
