To meet the travel needs of passengers during the busy festive season of Christmas and New Year, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced additional bus services. These services aim to make commuting easier and more convenient for travelers heading to popular destinations like Bengaluru, Chennai, and Mysuru, as well as those traveling within Kerala. This initiative comes as a response to the increased demand during the holiday season and reflects KSRTC's dedication to providing reliable transport options.
Additional Interstate Bus Services
KSRTC has added 38 extra buses to its daily schedule, which already includes 48 services. Among these, four buses will operate on the Chennai route, and a notable 34 buses will be allocated for Bengaluru, making it more convenient for travelers heading to these major cities. The corporation has also introduced special interstate bus services to Sabarimala, ensuring pilgrims and travelers have seamless transportation during this period.
Enhanced Intrastate Connectivity
For travelers within Kerala, KSRTC has introduced 24 more buses on high-demand routes. These include:
- Thiruvananthapuram-Kozhikode
- Thiruvananthapuram-Kannur
From Kozhikode, eight buses will operate, with four low-floor Volvo buses heading to Thiruvananthapuram and another four to Ernakulam. Other buses, such as low-floor, Minnal, Deluxe, and Superfast buses, will enhance services on these popular routes. These improvements aim to make travel within Kerala more convenient and efficient during the holidays.
Flexible Online Booking Options
To make travel arrangements smoother, KSRTC is enhancing its online reservation system. Eight daily services will be available based on passenger demand, with reservations opening accordingly. Key routes covered include:
- Kottarakkara-Kozhikode
- Adoor-Kozhikode
- Kumily-Kozhikode
- Ernakulam-Kannur
- Ernakulam-Kozhikode
In addition, KSRTC will run on-demand fast passenger services from stations such as Kollam, Kottarakkara, Kottayam, Thrissur, and Kozhikode, giving travelers more options and flexibility for their festive season trips.
