Bengaluru to undergo planned power cut on December 23 for emergency maintenance across several zones

will affect residential areas, IT hubs, and industrial zones in south, west, and north Bengaluru, causing inconvenience to homes, offices, and businesses.

Why is the Power Cut Essential?

According to officials, the power cut is required to repair and maintain substations and feeders. Such maintenance is usually done when faults are found or when upgrades are needed to keep the power grid stable, especially during times of heavy electricity use. Power supply will be restored once the work is completed.

List of Areas to be Affected

In South and West Bengaluru, power supply will be interrupted from 10 am to 4 pm. Areas such as Konanakunte, Talaghattapura, Doddakallasandra, Chikkalasandra, Kumaraswamy Layout, ISRO Layout, Yelachenahalli, and nearby localities will be affected. These places include many homes, apartments, schools, and small shops, and residents may face a complete power shutdown during these hours.

In north Bengaluru, areas like Hebbal and Kempapura will see power cuts from 11 am to 4 pm. Residential layouts, apartments, and office zones in these areas will be impacted. Several corporate offices and tech campuses may also face disruptions unless they have backup power.

The longest outage, from 10 am to 5 pm, will affect EPIP Layout and major tech and industrial areas, including large software parks and company campuses. Businesses here are expected to depend on generators.

Advisory for Residents

Residents are advised to plan by charging mobile phones, laptops, and other essential devices. People working from home should make alternative arrangements, and special care should be taken for elevators, water pumps, and medical equipment that depend on electricity.

Officials said power will be restored after maintenance, though timings may change slightly. As many parts of the city are affected, the outage will be widely felt, highlighting the need for advance planning.
