To manage the expected crowd and traffic during the IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 7, 2025, the Kolkata Traffic Police have announced a special traffic plan. The match will be held at Eden Gardens and will begin at 7:30 pm. The traffic changes will be in place from 4 pm to 1 am on the day of the match.

Traffic Restrictions Around Eden Gardens
The traffic advisory includes several changes around Eden Gardens and the Maidan area. Goods vehicles will not be allowed in the surrounding areas during the match hours. Roads near the Victoria Memorial, such as AJC Bose Road, Hospital Road, and Queensway, will have limited vehicle movement to avoid traffic jams and ensure safety.
This step has been taken to help the thousands of cricket fans expected to attend the match and also to maintain smooth traffic flow for local residents.
Road Closures and Parking Changes
Some roads will be closed completely for vehicles, including Kshudiram Bose Road, North Brooke Avenue, and Gostha Pal Sarani. People traveling to the High Court may have to take alternative routes like Esplanade Row West. These changes will help reduce congestion near the stadium.
In addition, parking will not be allowed on many main roads near the stadium. Roads like Gostha Pal Sarani and Kshudiram Bose Road will be marked as no-parking zones. This is to make sure that traffic moves smoothly and there are no blockages caused by parked vehicles.
Traffic Diversions and Bus Stand Relocations
Vehicles from South Kolkata heading towards BBD Bag will be redirected through roads like Rani Rashmoni Avenue and the Netaji Statue area. Vehicles coming from North and East Kolkata will be diverted through Central Avenue and Ganesh Chandra Avenue to reach key destinations.
The traffic police have also decided to move the Band Stand and Auckland Road bus stands to other locations during the match. If needed, more diversions will be made in real-time based on traffic conditions.
Plan for Other IPL Matches at Eden Gardens
These traffic changes are not only for the May 7 match but will also apply to the upcoming IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 on May 23 and the Final on May 25. Similar traffic rules will be followed to make sure fans and locals do not face problems during these important games.
The Kolkata Traffic Police are working hard to make sure everything goes smoothly. Their goal is to let people enjoy the match without worrying about traffic or safety issues.
