Kolkata to Get New Tech-Entertainment Hub, Malls and More: Check Location and Details

West Bengal is getting ready for big changes. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has shared plans for several new projects that will help improve the state's economy and infrastructure. These projects include a new hub for technology and entertainment, fresh investments in industries, support for small businesses, and the development of new shopping malls. All of these steps aim to make West Bengal a stronger, more modern state that creates more jobs and opportunities for people.

Kolkata to Get New Tech-Hubs

A New Tech and Entertainment Hub in New Town

A major part of this plan is the creation of a new innovative hub in New Town, Kolkata. This hub will be called Biswa Angan, also known as the International Information Technology and Entertainment Park (IITEC). It is being developed to encourage creativity, technology, and entertainment. Located near the famous Eco Park, this hub will also host big events and concerts, just like the successful Biswa Bangla Convention Centre.

The government agency Hidco will carry out the project through a public-private partnership. This means both the government and private companies will work together to build the hub, showing the state's commitment to growing in a smart and team-driven way.

New Industrial Investments and Job Creation

CM Banerjee also announced 10 new investment proposals from various industries, including the steel sector. These investments are worth Rs 25,000 crore in total. The state has already kept aside 2,515 acres of land in places like Jagal Sundari Karmanagari in Raghunathpur, Durgapur, and Panagarh for these industries. These projects are expected to create around 70,000 new jobs, helping many families across the state.

District Shopping Malls to Support Local Trade

To help local trade and small businesses, the government plans to build shopping malls in each of the 23 district headquarters. Each mall will be built on one acre of land. So far, 11 districts have already identified land for these malls. These shopping malls will have special areas for products made by self-help groups, giving local artisans and small business owners a place to sell their goods.

Support for MSMEs Across the State

The state is also focusing on the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. West Bengal has a strong MSME base with 90 lakh small businesses and over 660 business clusters. To support them, the government has planned 15 new industrial estates and has already set aside 43 plots for MSME projects.

These new plans show that West Bengal is working hard to become a leading state in culture, industry, and employment. By supporting big industries, small businesses, and local talent, the government is aiming to build a brighter and more inclusive future for everyone.
