Kolkata Metro Upgrades Ticketing: Allow Multiple QR Ticket Purchases on These Stations

The Kolkata Metro has announced a new update in its ticketing system, which will come into effect on February 28. With this change, passengers will now be able to buy up to seven QR-based paper tickets in one transaction. This is a big improvement from the current system, where only one ticket could be bought at a time. The new system is expected to make ticket buying faster and reduce long queues at metro stations.

Kolkata Metro Upgrades Ticketing

Faster and More Convenient Ticketing

Until now, commuters could only buy one QR-based paper ticket per transaction, which caused delays and long lines at ticket counters. With the new rule, passengers can purchase multiple tickets at once, making the process more convenient. This update will help travelers save time and avoid unnecessary waiting. The Kolkata Metro hopes that this change will provide a smoother and hassle-free experience for daily commuters.

Where Will This Change Apply?

This facility will be available across all metro corridors except the Purple Line (Joka-Majerhat). Metro officials confirmed this during their recent announcement. The new ticketing system will benefit passengers traveling on the following metro routes:

- Blue Line (Dakshineswar - New Garia)
- Orange Line (New Garia - Ruby Crossing)
- Green Line (Howrah Maidan - Esplanade)

However, the Purple Line will not be included in this update, and its ticketing system will remain unchanged for now.

The Kolkata Metro has been working on several improvements to make travel easier for passengers. This change is another step towards providing a faster and more efficient metro service in the city. By allowing multiple ticket purchases in one go, the metro aims to reduce congestion at ticket counters and make travel more comfortable for passengers.

The Kolkata Metro's decision to upgrade its ticketing system is a welcome change for commuters. Allowing the purchase of multiple QR-based paper tickets in one transaction will make travel more convenient and reduce waiting times. This improvement is expected to enhance the overall metro experience and make daily commuting in Kolkata smoother and more efficient.
