Kolkata Metro Services to be Affected on 28 May, Fewer Services on Some Routes Due to Eid-ul-Zuha

People travelling by Kolkata Metro on Thursday, May 28, will see fewer services on some routes due to the holiday of Eid-ul-Zuha, also known as Bakrid. However, the timings of the first and last trains on these routes will remain the same.

Kolkata Metro Blue Line Services

According to a statement released by Metro Railway on Tuesday, Metro services on the Blue Line will be reduced for the holiday. Instead of the usual 260 weekday services, only 246 services will run on Thursday. Even with the reduced number of trains, the first and last metro timings from both terminal stations will not change.

Yellow Line Services

The Yellow Line will also operate fewer services on the day. Metro Railway said 92 services will run instead of the normal 120 weekday services. The authorities confirmed that the timings of the first and last trains on the Yellow Line will remain unchanged despite the reduction in services.

Green Line Services

Similarly, the Green Line will have fewer metro services than usual. A total of 204 services will run on the route instead of the regular 228 weekday services. Metro officials said passengers can still expect the first and last trains to run at their usual timings from both ends of the corridor.

Reason behind the Reduction in Services

Metro Railway officials explained that the reduction in services is being done because passenger demand is usually lower during public holidays like Eid al-Fitr. Even though fewer trains will run, regular operations for the start and end of the day will continue without any changes.

Meanwhile, there will be no changes in the Purple Line and Orange Line services. Metro trains on these two corridors will continue to operate normally on Thursday.

Advisory for Passengers

Passengers are advised to check train schedules before travelling and plan their journeys accordingly, especially during peak hours, as waiting times between trains may be slightly longer on the Blue, Green, & Yellow lines due to the reduced number of services.
