To help candidates appearing for the West Bengal Civil Service (WBCS) Preliminary Examination on June 14, Kolkata Metro has announced additional train services on both the Blue and Green Metro lines. The special arrangement has been made to ensure that exam candidates, their guardians, and other passengers can travel conveniently and reach their examination centres on time.

Kolkata Metro Services Blue & Green Lines Operations on 14 June

Normally, metro services on Sundays begin later in the morning. However, on June 14, trains on both the Blue and Green lines will start operating from 7:00 am, two hours earlier than the usual Sunday schedule. Metro authorities expect a large number of passengers because of the WBCS examination and have therefore increased the number of services.

On the Blue Line, which connects Dakshineswar and Shahid Khudiram stations, 160 services will operate throughout the day instead of the regular 152 Sunday services. Between 7:00 am and 9:00 am, trains will run every 30 minutes in both directions. After 9:00 am, the normal Sunday timetable will resume.

Similarly, the Green Line, which runs between Howrah Maidan and Salt Lake Sector V, will see an increase in services. A total of 116 trains will operate instead of the usual 108. Like the Blue Line, trains on this route will run at 30-minute intervals between 7:00 am and 9:00 am before returning to the regular Sunday schedule.

Metro Railway officials have clarified that there will be no changes to the timings of the last trains on either line. The Yellow Line will continue to operate according to its normal Sunday schedule, while services on the Orange and Purple lines will remain unavailable on Sunday.

How will this Initiative Benefit Passengers?

The decision is expected to benefit thousands of WBCS aspirants across Kolkata by providing reliable and comfortable transportation on the day of the examination. Authorities have advised candidates to plan their journeys and make use of the additional metro services for a smoother commute.
