The Kolkata Metro has announced special late-night services on its Blue Line for Kali Puja on October 20 (Monday). This decision aims to help devotees who will be travelling to famous temples like Kalighat and Dakshineswar for night-long celebrations. In an official notice issued on October 17, the Metro authorities

said that operations will be extended beyond regular timings to ensure safe and smooth travel during the festival.
Extended Train Timings
On the night of Kali Puja, the last train from Dakshineswar to Sahid Khudiram will leave at 10:51 pm instead of the regular 9:28 pm. Similarly, the last train from Sahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar will depart at 11:00 pm instead of 9:33 pm. This extension will allow passengers more time to travel late into the night, a facility usually provided only during major festivals.
Adjusted Number of Services
The metro will run 144 services in total, 72 in each direction, on October 20. Though this is fewer than the usual 272 weekday services, the revised schedule has been specially planned to support late-night operations and manage the expected crowd. Moreover, Extra staff and security will be deployed at busy stations, especially near popular religious spots like Kalighat and Dakshineswar, which attract thousands of devotees during Kali Puja.
Metro Service to Enhance Commutation
Kali Puja brings large gatherings to temples and pandals across the city every year. The special late-night metro services are expected to reduce traffic on roads and offer a safer and more convenient travel option for worshippers. Many commuters have appreciated the decision, calling it a thoughtful step to handle the festival rush and ensure comfortable travel for all.
