Kochi Metro to Improve Services by Increasing Train Frequency during Weekdays from Wednesday

Kochi Metro to Improve Services

According to KMRL, metro trains will now run every 6 minutes and 45 seconds during peak hours from Monday to Saturday. Earlier, passengers had to wait longer between trains, but the revised schedule is expected to reduce waiting time and make journeys smoother.

The morning peak hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., while the evening peak hours are from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. These are the busiest times of the day when office-goers, students, and other commuters rely on metro services to travel across the city.

Kochi Metro to Operate Additional Train Trips

To support the increased demand, KMRL will operate eight additional train trips every weekday during these peak hours. The extra services are expected to reduce crowding inside trains and on station platforms, offering passengers a more comfortable travel experience.

Reason behind Kochi Metro's Increased Frequency

The decision comes as metro ridership continues to rise, with more people choosing public transport for their daily commute. By running trains more frequently, KMRL hopes to improve punctuality, ease congestion, and encourage more residents to use the metro instead of private vehicles.

Officials said the revised schedule is part of the metro operator's ongoing efforts to improve passenger convenience and meet the travel needs of the public. The additional services will help ensure smoother movement during the busiest parts of the day while reducing delays caused by overcrowding.

Advisory for Residents

Regular commuters are advised to note the updated timetable and plan their journeys accordingly. With shorter waiting times and more train services, passengers can expect quicker and more efficient travel on the Kochi Metro network during weekday rush hours.
