The Kerala government has announced a major investment of Rs 30 crore for the Cyber Valley project in Kochi. This announcement is seen as an important step for the city's development. According to Finance Minister K N Balagopal, the government plans to build Cyber Valley across 300 acres in Kochi

Infopark Phase III. The project is expected to become a major centre for information technology, IT-enabled services, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies.
Second Phase of Kochi Metro
In addition to Cyber Valley, the state budget has also set aside Rs 79 crore for the second phase of Kochi Metro, which is currently under construction. Another Rs 20 crore has been allocated for setting up a Technology Innovation Zone in Kochi. These investments aim to strengthen infrastructure, improve urban mobility, and promote innovation in the region.
However, not everyone is satisfied with the budget announcements. Kochi Mayor V K Minimol expressed disappointment, stating that apart from the funds for Kochi Metro, the budget did not give enough attention to Ernakulam district, even though it contributes a large share to the state's revenue. Ernakulam Member of Parliament Hibi Eden also shared similar concerns, saying that Kochi did not receive the importance it deserves in the state budget.
On the other hand, the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Kochi, welcomed the budget. The chamber described the 2026-27 budget as a positive and future-focused plan that addresses people's needs. ICCI praised the government for strengthening welfare schemes, supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups, and investing in infrastructure and green transport.
ICCI Kochi President Rajkumar Gupta said the budget creates a strong base for inclusive and sustainable growth. He also added that the chamber is ready to work closely with the government to help successfully implement these projects and initiatives for the benefit of the state and its people.
