The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has introduced a great initiative to make dining stops better for passengers on long bus journeys. Previously, meal breaks were unregulated, often leaving passengers at the mercy of random eateries chosen by the bus crew. KSRTC's list of 24 approved restaurants includes stops across Kerala. These restaurants have been carefully chosen after spot inspections to check food quality, cleanliness of storage areas, and restroom hygiene. This list is now part of KSRTC's official plan, so buses will stop only at these chosen locations for meal breaks. Transport Minister K. B. Ganesh Kumar shared that they took this step after hearing many passenger complaints about unapproved eateries used in the past. Now, with approved meal stops, KSRTC aims to keep food standards high and give passengers a better overall experience.
To make this plan run smoothly, KSRTC has issued clear guidelines. Stops are allowed only during designated meal times for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. Buses will display information about scheduled stops and the names of restaurants to keep passengers informed. This added transparency ensures that passengers know when and where they can expect meal breaks, providing both convenience and clarity. The guidelines also remind bus staff to confirm that all passengers are back on board before continuing the journey to avoid delays.
KSRTC has also made special provisions for unscheduled stops in case of unexpected events like traffic delays, so passengers' needs are still met even if the journey is prolonged. By focusing on passenger comfort, this new meal-stop policy highlights KSRTC's commitment to being a customer-friendly transport provider.
