According to the IMD forecast, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h are likely at one or two places in the state on Sunday. The yellow alert indicates rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours, affecting various districts on different days.

Impact on Life and Property
Continued heavy showers have disrupted normal life in Kerala. Damaged houses and waterlogged roads have caused traffic interruptions. Low-lying areas in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, and Thiruvananthapuram districts have faced flooding, inundating many houses and shops. Over 230 people have been relocated to relief camps across various districts.
Tragically, nearly 13 people have lost their lives in rain-related accidents. Disaster management teams are working tirelessly to assist those affected and mitigate further damages.
Approaching Cyclonic Storm
Disaster management organizations are also preparing for the powerful cyclonic storm Remal. The storm is swiftly approaching the coasts of Bangladesh and West Bengal, with landfall expected on Sunday at midnight. Winds are projected to reach speeds of 110–120 km/h, with gusts up to 135 km/h.
The Meteorological Office has issued a warning for very high rainfall on May 26–27 in the coastal regions of north Odisha and West Bengal. Authorities are urging residents to take necessary precautions.
