The Tourism Department of Kerala has prepared this floating bridge to move with the waves on the Beypore beach of Kozhikode.
Three years ago, when the pictures of the Floating Bridge from China went viral, people were surprised. A magnificent bridge was built over the river with forest and blue water encompassing it. This wonderful sight had made many travellers excited. But now you don't have to go abroad to take a stroll on a floating bridge. Rather, you can enjoy it in your own country. This bridge has been built in Kozhikode, Kerala.
It is completely different from the floating bridge in China. It's built in the sea, not the river. That is, along with the waves of the sea, these bridges also wave over the water. As the waves of the water move forward, so does this bridge swim. Tourists are first put on life jackets to go to this bridge, about 100 meters long. Only after this they are allowed to walk on it.
Feature Of The Bridge
This bridge is 100 meters long and 3 meters wide. The floating bridge is made of a High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) block, which gives a new experience in the middle of the sea. 1300 HDP blocks weighing 7 kg, have been used to build the bridge. They can be moved around as per the need.
Bridge Capacity
It can carry 500 people at a time. However, at present only 50 people wearing life jackets are allowed on the bridge. At the end of the bridge, which extends to the sea, there is a 15-meter wide platform where people can enjoy the beauty of the sea. Timings to visit the bridge are from 11 am to 6 pm.
