Kerala is expected to continue receiving isolated rainfall today, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). While rain is likely across the state, three northern districts, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod, have been placed under a yellow alert due to the possibility of heavy rainfall in isolated areas.
Kerala Rain Alert Today
Apart from the rainfall alert, the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has also issued a coastal warning for parts of the state. The alert covers the coastal districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Alappuzha, where there is a possibility of sea erosion due to the 'Kallakkadal' phenomenon. This is caused by high sea waves that can occur even without storms or strong winds. The warning will remain in effect from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. today.
Advisory for Kerala Residents
The weather department has advised people living in these districts to stay updated on weather warnings and take necessary precautions, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Although widespread heavy rain is not expected, sudden showers may affect normal activities in some places.
People living along the coast, as well as fishermen and visitors, have been advised to remain cautious and avoid venturing too close to the sea during the warning period. Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged residents to follow official advisories.
