Kaziranga National Park Opens 2024 Tourist Season with Record ₹65 Lakh Revenue

Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR) in Assam has reopened for the 2024 tourist season, and the early response is very encouraging. In October alone, the park collected around ₹65 lakh in revenue, proving that it's a popular spot for both wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. This revenue highlights Kaziranga's importance as a key destination for eco-tourism in India, offering visitors a unique glimpse into nature and wildlife.

Kaziranga Welcomes Nearly 29 000 Visitor

The park offers different types of safaris, allowing visitors to experience the rich landscapes and spot various animals. Jeep safaris started from October 1, while elephant safaris became available earlier this month. These experiences have added to the park's charm and helped attract nearly 29,000 tourists in October, just after the park's monsoon closure. Of these visitors, 28,401 were domestic travelers, and 579 came from other countries.

Impressive Revenue and Visitor Stats

Kaziranga earned ₹65,37,515 from these visitors in October, which reflects the park's strong start to the season. Last year, the park saw record numbers, with 3,27,493 tourists, including 13,919 international visitors. This turnout brought in a total revenue of ₹8,81,84,161, the highest in the park's history. These numbers show the positive impact of eco-tourism on the local economy, supporting jobs and businesses in the region.

Overcoming Challenges

Kaziranga faces seasonal challenges due to heavy monsoon rains from May to September, which often lead to flooding. This year, severe flooding affected the park, and nearly 200 animals were lost. Despite these setbacks, the park's management is optimistic about the future. Director Sonali Ghosh expressed her happiness with the park's strong reopening after the monsoon. Her words reflect the team's dedication to maintaining Kaziranga as a top eco-tourism destination.

Kaziranga's Importance in Assam's Tourism

Kaziranga National Park is more than just a tourist destination-it's a vital part of Assam's tourism and natural heritage. The park's ability to attract large numbers of visitors every year plays an important role in promoting eco-tourism. It's a place where people can connect with nature, learn about wildlife conservation, and experience Assam's unique beauty.

Kaziranga continues to draw thousands of visitors who come to enjoy its natural beauty and wildlife, making it a jewel in Assam's tourism landscape.
