As the southwest monsoon slowly moves into Karnataka, the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) has issued a latest weather warning for many parts of the state. The alert highlights the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds, and increased rainfall in the coming days.

Parts of North Interior Karnataka may witness thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds reaching up to 60 kmph. At the same time, rainfall activity is likely to increase across Coastal Karnataka, Malnad, and South Interior Karnataka.
Coastal Karnataka to Receive Rainfall
The weather department has predicted isolated to scattered light and moderate rainfall across the state over the next few days. Rainfall is expected to become more widespread from June 3 onwards, especially in coastal districts. Coastal Karnataka is likely to receive regular light to moderate rain from June 3, while heavy rainfall may occur between June 6 and June 9. The Malnad region is also expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall during June 7-9.
Coastal Karnataka may experience thunderstorms with winds of 30-40 kmph on June 1 and 2, followed by lightning activity from June 3 to June 5. South Interior Karnataka is also expected to see thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds during the first few days of June.
North Interior Karnataka has been placed under a thunderstorm alert. Strong winds of 50-60 kmph may occur in some places on June 1, while winds of 40-50 kmph could continue at isolated locations until June 5. Residents have been advised to remain cautious, particularly during the evening and night.
