Kanpur Metro is set to bring even better travel options for the people of the city. After successfully running between IIT Kanpur and Central Station, the metro is now ready to grow further. The route of Corridor One, which ends at Naubasta, will be extended to Samadhi Pulia. This new section will then connect with Corridor Two's last elevated station at Barra Eight. With this extension, more people living in South Kanpur will get easy access to the metro.

Survey Work Has Started
RITES' AGM Pushpendra Kumar Singh and other officials have already started a survey to plan the new route. A surveyor named Ravi and his team are preparing an Alternative Analysis Report (AAR), which is the first step in building any new metro line. This report will help decide the final route and stations.
Details of the New Route
The extension will be 8.07 kilometres long and will include five new elevated stations. These stations will be located at:
- Galla Mandi
- Samadhi Pulia
- Kadar Road Crossing
- Ashok Singh Marg
- Ramgopal Chauraha
The total cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 1,933 crore. RITES has already completed the survey and submitted their findings to the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA). KDA engineers are now checking the report carefully.
Next Steps in the Project
Once the KDA finishes reviewing the report, it will be sent to the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC). The UPMRC will be responsible for carrying out the construction of the new part of the metro route. This new section will play an important role in joining Corridor One with Corridor Two.
What This Means for Kanpur
This expansion is a big step toward improving public transport in Kanpur. With better metro connections in the southern areas of the city, more people will have access to clean, fast, and affordable travel. It is expected that this will also help reduce the number of vehicles on the roads, making travel easier and reducing traffic jams.
The metro has already changed the way people travel in Kanpur, and this new expansion will bring even more convenience to daily commuters. The project shows the city's growing focus on modern infrastructure and better living for its people.
