To manage the higher number of people travelling during the Holi festival, Indian Railways has announced special weekly trains running between Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh and Madurai in Tamil Nadu. These trains are being operated to help passengers who want to travel longer distances around the festive season.
Kanpur to Madurai Holi Special Trains
The special train from Kanpur to Madurai will leave from Kanpur station at 8:10 AM every Wednesday on these dates: February 25, March 4, 11, 18, and 25. The journey takes about two days, and the train is scheduled to arrive in Madurai early at 7:15 AM on the third day. For the return journey, another special train will leave Madurai at 11:35 PM on Fridays, February 27, March 6, 13, 20, and 27, and will reach Kanpur at 4:30 AM on the following fourth day.
Special Trains to Serve Passengers
These special trains have many types of coaches to serve passengers with different travel needs. They include air-conditioned (AC) 2-tier and AC 3-tier coaches, AC 3-tier economy coaches, sleeper class and general coaches, as well as seats designed to be friendly for passengers with disabilities. There is also space for baggage and brake vans. Railways have already opened advance ticket booking for both directions, so passengers can reserve their seats ahead of time before these trains begin running.
Moreover, these extra services aim to make holiday travel easier and reduce crowding on regular trains during Holi, which is one of the busiest travel periods in India each year.
