Indian Railways has announced a revised schedule for the Kalaburagi-SMVT Bengaluru-Kalaburagi Vande Bharat Express train, which will come into effect from January 1. This semi-high-speed train was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 12, 2024. The service is operated and maintained by the South Western Railway
(SWR) zone.
Vande Bharat Express to Run Between Kalaburagi and Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal
The Vande Bharat Express runs between Kalaburagi and Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT), Bengaluru, improving fast and comfortable travel between north Karnataka and the state capital. The train has become popular among passengers because of its modern coaches, better seating, and shorter travel time compared to regular express trains.
As per the schedule, train number 22231, which runs from Kalaburagi to SMVT Bengaluru, operates on all days of the week except Friday. In the return direction, train number 22232, which runs from SMVT Bengaluru to Kalaburagi, operates on all days except Thursday. Passengers are advised to check the updated timetable before planning their journey, as the revised schedule will be followed from the beginning of the new year.
The Kalaburagi-SMVT Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express covers a total distance of around 550 kilometres. The journey takes approximately 8 hours and 45 minutes, making it one of the fastest train options on this route. The reduced travel time helps passengers save time and makes same-day travel more convenient.
