Kailash Mansarovar Yatra to Restart via Nathula Pass in June 2025 After 5 Years

The holy Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, one of the most sacred journeys for Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains, is set to begin again in June 2025. This news brings great joy to many spiritual travelers, as the yatra was stopped for five years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and border tensions between India and China. The journey will now take place through the Nathula Pass in Sikkim, which is a safer and shorter route.

Why was the yatra stopped?

The yatra was first stopped in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic began. Even after the pandemic, the journey could not start again because of military tensions along the India-China border. Now, with improved conditions and planning, the journey is ready to begin again.

Why Nathula Pass route is special

The Nathula Pass route is better compared to the Lipulekh Pass route. It is shorter, easier, and safer. Pilgrims will begin their journey from Gangtok in Sikkim. From there, they will cross into Tibet and travel to Lake Mansarovar and Mount Kailash, two of the most important places for spiritual seekers. The road on this route is well-maintained and offers more comfort for travelers.

Better infrastructure for a smooth journey

To help pilgrims adjust to the high altitudes, the Sikkim government has built two acclimatization centers. One is at 10,000 feet near the 16th Mile, and the other is at 14,000 feet near Hangu Lake. These centers will help pilgrims avoid health problems related to low oxygen. In addition, roads have been improved, and security arrangements are in place. Rest houses, medical services, and other travel facilities are also being set up to support the pilgrims.

Yatra schedule and how to register

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra will take place from June to August 2025. Pilgrims must register with the Ministry of External Affairs. They need to provide proper identification and get all the required permits. The first group of pilgrims will leave Delhi on June 15. They will cross the Nathula Pass on June 20 to continue their journey into Tibet.

Boost to local economy and culture

The restart of this yatra is expected to bring more tourists to the region. This will help local people find work and earn income. It will also help revive local culture and traditions. Many leaders believe that this will also improve India's relations with Tibet.

This is an important moment for spiritual travel and brings new hope to many pilgrims.
