The Railway Ministry has approved a proposal by Konkan Railway Corporation Limited to extend the Kacheguda-Murudeshwar-Kacheguda Express with Train Numbers 12789/12790 up to Kumta in Uttara Kannada district, which was approved on April 7. This will improve rail connectivity in the region.

Extension of Kacheguda-Kumta Express
As per the new plan, Train Number 12789 Kacheguda-Kumta Express will leave Kacheguda at 6:05 a.m. and reach Kumta at 2:30 p.m. on the second day. In the return direction, Train Number 12790 Kumta-Kacheguda Express will depart from Kumta at 3:10 p.m. and arrive at Kacheguda at 11:40 p.m. on the second day.
How will it Benefit Commuters?
A group of railway activists welcomed the move on social media, saying that Kumta is now connected to Tirupati through this extension. They also appreciated MLA Dinakar Shetty for his continuous efforts in making this possible and congratulated the people of Uttara Kannada. Passengers traveling on this route can reach Tirupati via Renigunta Junction, which is located close to the temple town. However, the Railways have not yet officially released the updated timetable for the extended portion of the train journey.
