For those who love nature, wildlife, and a touch of adventure, IRCTC has launched a wonderful travel package called Sunderban Ilish Utsav. This 1 Night and 2 Days trip takes you into the heart of Sundarbans National Park in West Bengal — one of the most famous tiger reserves and mangrove forests in the world. Starting on 15th August 2025, this short but rich journey lets you enjoy forest cruises, cultural performances, and close views of wild creatures, all with comfort and care.
Located in the Ganges Delta, the Sundarbans is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the Bengal tiger, salt-water crocodiles, and many species of birds and reptiles. It shares its boundary with the Sundarban Reserve Forest in Bangladesh.
Tour package highlights
The journey begins in Kolkata near Priya Cinema at 7:30 AM, where guests board a deluxe bus to Gadkhali. From there, they take a cruise to Dayapur. Along the way, refreshments are served. Upon reaching, guests check in at the Sunderban Tiger Camp Resort or a similar deluxe hotel and enjoy lunch at Fisherman’s Wharf restaurant.
In the afternoon, a boat takes visitors to the Jatirampur Bird Nesting Centre. By evening, the group returns for hi-tea and enjoys a beautiful folk dance show by the local Adibasi tribe from Dayapur Island. Dinner is served at the resort, and guests may relax at the Mangrove Bar or rest for the night.
Wildlife experience on Day 2
On the second day, the tour continues early in the morning with a visit to Sudhanyakhali Watch Tower and surrounding creeks such as Pitchkhali and Bonobibi Dharani. Guests can observe wildlife from special viewing lines. After returning to the resort before noon, guests are served an early lunch and check out at 11:00 AM to head back to Kolkata.
Pricing details
The package is available at different prices: ₹15,650 for single occupancy, ₹9,350 per person for double occupancy, and ₹8,950 per person for triple occupancy. The price includes AC deluxe bus and boat travel, meals (2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 1 snack, 1 dinner), and hotel stay.
